This paper is focused on the location factors of corporate headquarters in
the South African context, with a particular attention to companies listed in
the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). The paper seeks to investigate the
regional nodes that likely influences headquarters location decisions. In so
doing, the study seeks to understand how the metropolitan specialisation
likely influence corporate headquarters location. The framework adopted in
this study is that headquarters agglomerate in particular metropolitan areas
due to control power and network power. However, the nodes of the
metropolitan areas power and network do change with the changes in the
environment.
